University of Pardubice DrSc. (DSc.) 2000 analytical chemistry
University of Pardubice Assoc. Prof. 2004 analytical chemistry
Dr. Mikšík has a broad spectrum of professional interest: development of new methods for analysis of a broad spectrum of compounds by capillary electrophoresis and chromatography and their applications to the analysis of biological (physiological) functions of the organism. In practice he uses coupling of capillary electrophoresis and chromatography to mass spectrometry and their application to study of proteins, peptides and other physiological important compounds; analysis of steroids and their metabolites in organisms, native and modified proteins; physiology and chemistry of connective tissue and their cross-links; study of nonezymatic posttranslational modification of proteins; analysis of pigments (avian eggshell). He gives lectures about the analysis of the biological samples in Department of Biological and Biochemical Sciences, University Pardubice (ended with exam).
Since 1984 I. Mikšík works at Institute of Physiology, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, gradually on student fellowship, PhD student (PhD thesis Nonenzymatic glycation of proteins of connective tissue) and next as research scientist. Since 1996 he is head of the Department for Analysis of Biologically Active Substances.
He is a member of the Czech Chemical Society (member of board of the Section for Chromatography and Electrophoresis). He also acts as a chairman of one of the sections (interdisciplinary) of the Grant Agency of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and he is member of board of chemical sciences of Grant Agency of the Czech Republic. He spent several stays in abroad, e.g Dept. Biochemistry, University of Oulu, Finland; Faculty of Medicine, Chiang Mai University, Thailand; Institute of Forensic Medicine, University of Verona, Italy. He was a member of the Organizing Committee of the international symposium "Applications of HPLC and HPCE in the BioSciences", which was held in 1995 in Prague and he was a member of Scientific Committee and Organizing Committee of the 2nd International Symposium Separations in the BioSciences SBS 2001 which was held in 2001 in Prague. He was editor of Journal of Chromatography A, Bibliographic Section and now he is a member of Editorial board of Current Analytical Chemistry.
He has many scientific international cooperation, for example Univeritade de Madeira, Quimica Depart (Portugal), University of Chiang Mai, Faculty of Medicine (Thailand), Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Institute of Chemistry, Chemical Research Centr (Hungary), University of Verona, Institute of Forensic Medicine (Italy).
